Meyyafushi sits in Lhaviyani Atoll, long and narrow — 860 metres of natural island ringed by a single coral reef. Ninety-five villas and suites, every one with a private pool, every one starting at 185 m². The retreat is run by BeKind, and a set of "kindness" pillars — to environment, community, visitors, residents — shapes how the place operates rather than how it markets itself. The premise is premium all-inclusive with 24-hour dining. Ten food and beverage venues across the island — including an underwater restaurant, a teppanyaki room, a Mediterranean grill, and an adults-only sky bar with a glass-bottom infinity pool. The scale matters: this is a retreat that accommodates families and groups without thinning the experience for couples. Two, three, and four-bedroom suites sit alongside one-bedroom villas. Recreation reads like an island of its own — the country's first overwater padel court, a floodlit tennis court, a futsal field, mini-bowling, billiards. The overwater Veyoge Spa holds eight treatment rooms above the lagoon. A private sandbank is held in reserve for exclusive use. The reef is a known manta cleaning station.
Arrival. 35-minute seaplane from Velana International. We time the transfer to your flight, and confirm it in writing with the rest of the stay.

Beyond the villa
What Meyyafushi Maldives does well, with its own schedules and menus where it publishes them. Open one to read it.
The retreat reef is a known manta cleaning station, with a coral rejuvenation garden run on-island — the marine programme is resident, not visiting.
The country's first overwater padel court — advance booking required, one hour per villa per day.
Kept aside for exclusive guest use — the picnic, the proposal, the morning entirely alone.
A climbing wall, indoor playhouse, mini-skate ramp and outdoor pool — geared for ages four to twelve, and properly staffed.
Overwater, eight treatment rooms, hydrotherapy, steam and sauna — scaled to a retreat built for long stays, where the spa is a habit rather than an event.
An overwater wedding pavilion sits beside the yoga deck, and the private sandbank takes the smaller vow — the premium all-inclusive register means the party's week is settled before the occasion begins.
The cleaning station works to its own clock — mornings are kindest for the mantas and the light.
The overwater padel court, held one hour per villa — book it the night before.
Hydrotherapy and steam over the lagoon; the kids holding the climbing wall meanwhile.
The underwater room early in the week, teppanyaki mid-week, the adults-only sky lounge for the last night.
