The retreat, in full
Landaa Giraavaru is the larger, more contemplative half of the Four Seasons Maldives pair — a 44-acre island held in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere, with Hanifaru Bay manta aggregation on the doorstep. The Marine Discovery Centre is led by fifteen marine biologists running coral reefscaping, manta research, fish breeding, and a turtle rehabilitation programme that has returned over 300 turtles to the sea in a decade. The Ayurvedic Retreat is one of the very few in the country with a resident Ayurvedic doctor and proper panchakarma programming — full spectrum, not lobby-spa gloss. Dining runs from Al Barakat (tented Moroccan) to Blu (over-water Italian), with a Sunset Cellar wine room held for the longer evening.

Worth knowing
- The Marine Discovery Centre is genuinely full-spectrum — 15 biologists, coral reefscaping, manta and turtle programmes. Among the most serious operations in the country.
- The Ayurvedic Retreat is one of the very few in the country with a resident doctor and proper panchakarma — not a lobby spa pitched as wellness.
- Hanifaru Bay manta aggregation is on the doorstep during the southwest monsoon (May–November) — held privately by the marine team.
