Cocoa Island sits on Makunufushi in the South Malé Atoll — a small, all-over-water house from Christina Ong's COMO group, with the villas drawn directly from the architectural line of the traditional Maldivian dhoni. The dhoni form is not pastiche; it is the proper reference, rendered in bleached timber and kajan thatch above the lagoon. There are no beach rooms — thirty-three over-water villas, all of them, which holds the cadence intimate and the mood adult-skewing. The 40-minute speedboat means a same-day arrival from a late international flight — a real concierge advantage over seaplane-only retreats — and COMO Shambhala runs the wellness layer.
Arrival. 40-minute speedboat from Velana International. We time the transfer to your flight, and confirm it in writing with the rest of the stay.

The entry register — the smaller dhoni-form suite, drawn directly from the boat line.
A two-level dhoni-form loft — the curved roof line stretched upward, an extended deck beneath.
A two-storey loft villa — the higher view, the longer deck at the lagoon line.
The signature single-bedroom over-water with a private plunge pool — the longer pavilion, the deeper privacy on the lagoon line.
A two-bedroom COMO villa on the sunrise line — held for the small party or the family register, over the lagoon.
The two-bedroom COMO villa on the sunset line — the long evening, the same lagoon footprint.
The largest register — three bedrooms held privately over the lagoon, the western light through the deck.
Dining
2 restaurants and bars at COMO Cocoa Island, with menus where the retreat publishes them.
The house room — breakfast through to a quiet supper, the Asian register with the Maldivian inflection.
The poolside room — light lunches, a long sit between the lagoon and the pool deck.

The villas are drawn from the traditional Maldivian fishing-boat form — not pastiche, the proper line, held throughout the retreat.
Forty minutes by speedboat, around the clock — a late international flight still reaches the villa that night. A real advantage over seaplane-only retreats.
No beach rooms at all — all 33 villas stand over the lagoon, which keeps the island intimate and the mood adult.
The flagship-quality wellness register on a 33-villa island — Asian-influenced therapies, and the adult hush that lets them land.
A 33-villa island keeps an occasion close — the anniversary held at Ufaa, the blessing on the sandbank, the COMO Shambhala day after. Small by design, and better for it.
Every villa steps straight into the water — the day begins below the deck.
The South Malé line with the dive centre, or the lagoon's own slow circuit.
The Asian-influenced sequence, taken seriously — the island's real signature.
Pan-Asian and Maldivian at the one long table the island needs.
